Binge-Worthy Books to Cozy up to This Fall

So it’s 2018 and obviously there’s a thousand books out there right now. I wish I could read them all, but I can’t. But, I do try to stay up to date on what some of the hottest trending books and tend to visit book stores and other websites regularly. And, let’s face it, Amazon is pretty cool too. So I tend to always have my wish list long and varied. I will read anything that someone recommends to me as I am not too picky and am very open-minded. I’m all about learning new things so why not. Life’s short right?

Anyways, this post is all about my top book picks for the year. 2018. So, I figure the best way to do this is to break it down by category like all the fancy awards do. Some of the books I recommend actually did win awards. My favourite is the Pulitzer Award. All their books turn out amazing so I highly recommend reading any of the ones on their annual list as they only give out one per year.

Fiction

  1. The Goldfinch – This book is so heart breaking and yet so beautiful. It is the story of a young boy who loses his mother very early in the book. This book follows the boy as he grows up and throughout his life. Although heartbreaking to follow his tale, it is so beautifully told that I found myself unable to put the book down. Definitely an amazing book and very clear why it won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction.
  2. I let you go – I do not want to say much other than I have read many books and this one stands out for suspense. Normally these types of books have a twist that the killer is someone they know blah blah blah. But, this twist left me with literal chills and I actually felt betrayed by the author which I know is weird. But overall exceptional deception.

Self Development

  1. Tuesdays with Morrie – This book brought tears to my eyes. It reminds me of people you have met in your life that you haven’t seen in years. The people that you still think of them from time to time and how you regret not reaching out earlier. It also teaches you about the wisdom we can learn from others and that deep conversations are really truly what excel us in life. Morrie teaches us the joy of living in the moment and to enjoy life.
  2. The Happiness Project – This was something I will allude to in another blog post as Gretchin has actually inspired me to do a project of my own. It talks about the simple things in life we can do to be overall a bit happier. She also has a great podcast for more great happiness tips called Happier.

Health & Wellness

  1. The Probiotics Revolution – So random I know, but this book was randomly one I found at the library and thought what the heck. Anyways, it turned out to be so enlightening about the benefits of probiotics and read more like a fiction novel. It’s not too wordy,  has great examples and tips on how to add more probiotics into your life.
  2. The Big Fat Surprise Highly highly recommend. This book is amazing and explains the benefit of the Keto diet and how Fat is surprisingly good for you. It delves into the history from a hundred years ago and why we even think that fat is bad in the first place. It cracks open a lot of myths that we believe today and the controversies that surround the food industry. Eye-opening and well researched.

Okay, that’s all. I read so many other great books but those ones were the ones I really took note of and stood out to me. I did have a reading challenge to read 50 books this year, but may end up only reading 35. You can follow along with me from my goodreads website as I do update that regularly as I finish books etc.

Please share in the comments any other books that are similar to the above and I will add them to my reading list! I love hearing recommendations from other readers as there are just too many books to choose so some authors get lost in the midst. Check out my other book club series here
