October Favourites

So, this week I want to do something a little more fun. I want to start a monthly favourites post where I can share what I am currently into. I subscribe to Topbox so each month I get samples of beauty products and sometimes I love one or 2 products and would totally buy them at full price, while sometimes I don’t really like any of the products. But, I will try to post about the ones I love. But, I don’t want to stop at beauty. I want these posts to be about all different types of things I am into. I want to include TV Shows, Podcasts, Food Item, and any other things I discover throughout the month. I am constantly trying new things so I want a space where I can share these things. [Oh and FYI, none of this is sponsored. ]

Podcasts

Skinny Confidential – Recently started listening to this podcast and am totally unbiased as I did not know who they were or anything about her blog. I think I liked it at first because since it was 2 people, there is a great dynamic between them. At first, I wasn’t sure I really liked Lauren because she seemed a little fake and all her photos were a little too perfect, but then as I listened more and got to know her, she warmed on me and I really appreciated the podcast as they share their story and offer advice and are just downright authentic. And, of course, they have cool guests like Jillian Michaels & her business partner, and some other random people who I had never heard of but are seriously amazing. They talk a lot about inspiration, business, recommendations for skincare, books, apps and so many other random things but there’s always a take away and I find myself having to carry a notebook around when I listen as there is always something to make a note on or write down. Michael’s Master list episode was intense because he listed like 15 of his top books and I was driving and had to stop the podcast until I got home so I could write down all the books he recommended. Seriously, I had not heard of half of them and they are now on my to buy wish list.

Beauty

This month’s beauty recommendation is going to be Benefit’s “their real” Double the Lip Lipstick. Now, I normally don’t wear lipstick that often. I also have never worn lip liner before, so this was new for me. I tried it out and

it honestly goes on like lip balm. It looks like tinted lip balm as well so doesn’t have that over the top lipstick look.  I like to go for a more natural look when I wear makeup, so this one was a big win for me. I also liked the colour it came in which was “Nude Scandal” so it gave the overall natural look with just a hint of colour. Now, not sure if I would buy this full price, because when I looked it up on the Sephora website, it came up as $26. So as great as it is, I would probably look up a similar drugstore dupe, and will let you know if I find out.

Youtube

So, I watch a lot of different Youtube channels, but I have found a new one and have been following her for over a year on Instagram, but recently fell down the rabbit hole of her youtube channel. It’s @Keepupwithliv and she shares amazing healthy recipes, tips, snacks hacks and more. As you guys know I’m always trying to be healthier and I had met Liv a while back at a blogger event thingy. So, I highly recommend her channel as they are all easy recipes that aren’t too complicated either. Plus she recently posted some recipes about dessert hacks. Homemade healthy snickers etc and I can’t wait to try them all out!

Spotify Playlist

Have been obsessed with the Playlist “Mood Booster lately. It is one of those playlists that you can listen to on repeat and it doesn’t get old. I listen to it in the morning on my way to work and somehow it just can transform any mood into an amazing one. There are so many great songs and they are pretty much all upbeat and do exactly what the name says. Considering I love to sing and dance in my car, this playlist sure gets the job done.

Food

So this one was a no brainer. This month I have been obsessed with those Zoodles you get at the grocery store. They are PC brand and no this is not sponsored. They are just seriously that amazing. They come in Sweet Potato, Beet or Butternut squash. They also come in Zucchini, but those ones aren’t that great as they turn out a little soggy.

So anyways, you just throw them in a frying pan on the stove and within 5-8 minutes, their done. That’s it. You can add whatever flavour you like, but I just add pepper and garlic powder and pair them with your favourite meat. We usually meal prep a bunch of meat and then I can have this on the side. No starchy carbs needed.

TV Show

I think its only appropriate that since it is Halloween month, my favourite show this month be Hill House from Netflix. I didn’t even know this show was new. It popped up on Netflix just at the right time when my husband and I were looking for a new show so we just decided to try it out. It as only after we had almost finished that I started to see online going crazy about it. So I did not mean to jump on the trend band wagon on this one. Netflix just is really good at promoting their new shows. Anyways, people are saying it is too scary, but I am one who gets really scared and this one is actually not that bad. Now, don’t get me wrong, it does have me yelling at the tv at some points and gets me jumping at others, but the plot is REALLY good. Each episode is from the perspective of a different character and jumps between the past and present so it really makes you have to watch each episode to really understand what happened and what exactly is going on. Netflix nailed it with this one. Can’t wait to see where they take it next.

So, I think that’s all for this month. Let me know what other topics you think I should share my favourites on? If you want to read about my book favourites, they change so often so please see post here. I honestly love trying new products and new things. I also debated doing a post each month about things I didn’t like, but I felt that would bring too much of a negative vibe that I changed it up and thought let’s do positive but not just do the stereotypical beauty products and make it generic so it can cover all my bases. I also really want to do a post about my all time favs since I have so many staple products and favourites that I have been using and watching for years.
